Prince William is set to take a major trip abroad this week without Princess Kate, Kensington Palace has confirmed. The Prince of Wales, 43, will attend the UEFA Women's Euro match to watch England play against Netherlands.

The match will take place on Wednesday in Zurich, Switzerland. Prince William, who is patron of The Football Association, is not expected to be accompanied by his wife the Princess of Wales, 43.

The trip comes just a day after William and Kate take part in the three-day French state visit in Windsor.

The couple, along with King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, will welcome France's President, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife, Brigitte, to Windsor for the three-day visit.

This morning, both the Prince and Princess of Wales will greet the French president and his wife on behalf of the King at RAF Northolt and will travel with them to Windsor.

In Windsor town centre, the King and Queen will formally welcome their French guests on a Royal Dais on Datchet Road, before taking a carriage procession through the Berkshire town and along part of the Long Walk, which leads to the castle.

A ceremonial welcome will be staged in the castle's quadrangle with Camilla, William, Kate and Mrs Macron watching as the King and Mr Macron inspect the Guard of Honour.

Other events are then set to be held, including a private lunch and a state banquet.

Prince William's attendance at the football game tomorrow also comes just weeks after the prince visited the England team at St George's Park, where he wished the Lionesses good luck.

During his visit, the future King also personally helped to print names and numbers on the shirts that they will wear in Switzerland for the match.

It is not known whether Prince William will take any of his children with him to watch the big game.
