The UFC pound for pound (P4P) ranking does something otherwise not possible in combat sports, that is, to compare fighters from different weight classes and establish who is the best fighter on the roster.

While the P4P rankings are somewhat controversial, the way a fighter’s recent fights, overall record, and dominance in their division are considered, these rankings are the most comprehensive way to compare fighters that would otherwise never fight each other.

Here are the top 10 UFC P4P ranked fighters today. While most of them are champions of their divisions, there are also a couple of recent champions and strong future contenders.

10) Alex Pereira

Alex Pereira is one of the most popular UFC fighters today. About two months ago, he was also the UFC Lightweight Champion. Winning the title in late 2023, he made three successful defences in 2024 but lost the title to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 on March 9, 2025. His next fight is currently unknown.

9) Tom Aspinall

The current heavyweight champion won the interim title at UFC 295 in November 2023. At UFC 304, he defended the title against Curtis Blaydes. Aspinall was the backup for heavyweight champion Jon Jones’ title defence against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309. Last month, UFC head Dana White announced that Jones had retired from the sport; Tom Aspinall was promoted to be the new undisputed champion.

8) Maddalena jack

The current welterweight champion headlined UFC 315, where he defeated champion Belal Muhammad. He has been undefeated in MMA since 2016 and finally won the title in May of this year. That puts him eighth on the pound for pound rankings.

7) Magomed Ankalaev

The man who beat Alex Pereira for the light heavyweight title is currently seventh in the P4P rankings. Ankalaev has been undefeated since 2018 and did fight for the title at UFC 282 in December 2022, but the match ended in a draw. He got another shot at the title at UFC 313 in March 2025 and won the fight by unanimous decision to take the title home.

6) Alexander Volkanovski

UFC’s ‘last-minute man’ is one of the most versatile fighters on Dana White’s roster, ready for a fight on any notice. His last 10 fights have had the featherweight title on the line. First winning the title in December 2019 at UFC 245, Volkanovski defended the belt up to February 2024. In between, he moved up a weight class to challenge Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title on short notice. After losing the championship to Ilia Topuria, he challenged for it again after Ilia vacated it. Alex beat Diego Lopez in his most recent fight for the Featherweight title at UFC 314.

5) Alexandre Pantoja

Brazillian Alexandre Pantoja has been the UFC Flyweight champion since July 2023, when he beat Brandon Moreno at UFC 290. Since then, he has sat upon the division. Most recently beating Kai Kara-France via submission at UFC 317.

4) Dricus du Plessis

DDP has been the UFC Middleweight Champion since beating Sean Strickland for the title in January 2024 at UFC 297. Still undefeated in his five-year UFC career, du Plessis most recently beat Sean Strickland again in his second title defence at UFC 312 in February 2025.

3) Merab Dalsvili

Merab Dvalishvili is the current UFC bantamweight champion. He beat Sean O’Malley for the title at UFC 306 in September 2024. Dvalishvili is currently on a 13-match winning streak, having beaten Sean O’Malley in his most recent fight, which was also his second title defence, taking place at UFC 316 in June 2025.

2) Islam makhachev

The Dagestani fighter was on top of the UFC for the longest time as the lightweight champion. He won the championship after dominating Charles Oliveira at UFC 284 in October 2022. He then defended the title on five occasions, winning the matches in either a unanimous decision, submission, or KO/TKO. In May 2025, Makhachev vacated the title and decided to move to welterweight, where he will challenge current champion Jack Della Maddalena in a future fight.

1) Ili’s top

The new talk of the town in UFC, the Georgian-Spanish fighter is the new UFC Lightweight Champion, beating Charles Oliveira for the vacated title at UFC 317 in June 2025 via knockout. Before moving to Lightweight, Topuria was the Featherweight Champion, which he became after beating Volkanovski at UFC 297 in January 2024. But after just one defence, he vacated the title to move up to lightweight.

Ilia Topuria is currently 17-0-0 in his MMA career and is the only fighter on this list who is undefeated. He has won seven of his 17 fights, including the last three that were for the championship, via KO/TKO. This makes it obvious why he is currently at the top of the UFC pound for pound rankings.
