Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's deposition dates set; legal battle moves forward next week - Details Inside

The legal battle between actress Blake Lively and ' It Ends With Us ' actor-director Justin Baldoni is gaining momentum, with the deposition date set for July 17.
According to court documents obtained by People, the proceedings follow a heated few weeks of legal activity, including subpoenas served to those directly and indirectly involved with the highly publicised case. Lively’s legal team sent subpoenas to two publicists associated with Baldoni, and in response, their attorney filed a motion for a one-week extension to produce requested documents. One email dated July 2, included in the filing, confirms communication around the subpoena process.
The high-profile case is scheduled to go to trial in March 2026 in New York. Lawyers for both parties have confirmed that Lively and Baldoni will testify during the proceedings.
In a previous statement to People early this year, Lively’s attorney, Mike Gottlieb, emphasised the importance of trial testimony, stating, “The ultimate moment for a plaintiff's story to be told is at trial. We expect that to be the case here [with Lively]. So we would, of course, expect her to be a witness at her trial.”
Justin Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, echoed similar intentions, telling TMZ Live that he plans to question Lively under oath. “She’s gonna have to provide evidence, and she’s gonna have to provide the truth of the stories,” he said, adding that they possess video footage, text messages, and emails they believe will challenge her allegations.
The legal feud began in December 2024, when Lively, accused her It Ends With Us co-star and director Baldoni, of sexual harassment, fostering a hostile work environment, and launching a smear campaign against her. Baldoni vehemently denied the claims and filed a $400 million countersuit in March 2025, accusing Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds , and her longtime publicist Leslie Sloane of defamation and civil extortion.
However, in June, U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed Baldoni’s lawsuit against all three. He, however, offered Baldoni's team to ammend their suit. Following the dismissal, Lively issued a public statement reflecting on the experience, “Like so many others, I've felt the pain of a retaliatory lawsuit, including the manufactured shame that tries to break us.”
She continued, “I’m more resolved than ever to continue to stand for every woman’s right to have a voice in protecting themselves — including their safety, their integrity, their dignity, and their story.”
The trial is already set to be one of the most closely watched legal showdowns in Hollywood.
