Over 1.27 crore women in Madhya Pradesh may have to wait a little longer for the 26th installment of the Ladli Behna Yojana, a flagship welfare scheme providing monthly financial support to eligible women. Although beneficiaries typically receive ₹1,250 between the 10th and 15th of each month, officials now indicate a possible delay in the July installment.
This month, however, women can expect a bonus—an additional ₹250 as a special Raksha Bandhan gift, which is likely contributing to the delay in fund disbursement.
The Ladli Behna Yojana is a welfare initiative by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, offering monthly financial aid of ₹1,250 to eligible women. Launched to support women’s empowerment and improve their economic status, the scheme currently benefits around 1.27 crore women across the state.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has already announced a major upgrade to the scheme—beginning October 2025, the monthly aid will increase to ₹1,500, with plans to further raise it to ₹3,000 per month by 2028.
Although the government typically processes payments in the second week of every month, this July’s installment might arrive later than usual. The reason? Raksha Bandhan, which falls on August 9, and the government’s intention to credit a special bonus of ₹250 to all beneficiaries as part of the celebrations.
Sources suggest that instead of crediting a lump sum of ₹1,500 in one go, the amount may be transferred in two parts:
₹1,250 (regular monthly installment)
₹250 (Raksha Bandhan bonus)
This dual transfer process is contributing to administrative delays, and while the exact date of credit has not yet been officially declared, expectations are that the full amount will still be credited within the month of July.
Delays in payment are not new under the Ladli Behna Yojana. Initially, funds were disbursed between the 7th and 10th of each month. However, beginning April 2025, the window was extended to 10th–15th due to resource planning and fund coordination with the central government.
For instance:
April: Amount credited on the 16th
May: Funds received by 15th
June: Delay caused by an aviation accident, installment paid on 16th
The changes are attributed to the state’s effort to better utilize the tax devolution funds received from the central government, which typically arrive around the 10th of each month.
For July 2025, women will receive ₹1,500 in total—₹1,250 as the regular monthly benefit, plus ₹250 as a Raksha Bandhan bonus. However, this ₹1,500 figure is a one-time enhancement.
In August and September, beneficiaries will revert to receiving ₹1,250/month. The government has officially confirmed that starting October 2025, the monthly assistance will be increased to ₹1,500, marking a permanent boost.
While there might be a short delay in the credit of the 26th installment of the Ladli Behna Yojana, the added ₹250 bonus for Raksha Bandhan comes as a welcome gift. Women are advised to stay updated via official portals and local government announcements regarding the exact disbursement dates.
This minor delay reflects the government’s broader goal of making welfare schemes more festive and meaningful, aligning financial support with cultural celebrations like Raksha Bandhan.
