Rain Riot! Famous Dhuandhar Falls Submerges; Jabalpur–Narsinghpur Highway Cuts Off As Narmada Rises 3 Feet Above Road

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): After Satpura and Surja, as many as 17 sluice gates of Bargi Dam were opened in Jabalpur. The heavy rains even submerged the famous Dhuandhar waterfalls. Similarly, Narsinghpur lost connectivity with Jabalpur after floodwaters rose over the road on Monday.

2.92 lakh cusecs of water released

According to reports, 2.92 lakh cusecs of water has been released from 17 gates of Bargi dam into Narmada River since yesterday evening resulting into flood-like condition disrupting the transportation and tourism in several areas along the river.

Jhansighat bridge submerges

Narmada River's water level has been continuously surging after opening of the dam gates. The Jabalpur–Narsinghpur National Highway has been closed entirely as Jhansighat bridge, connecting both the district is submerged under flood water.

Three feet water above the road level

Currently water is flowing three feet above the road surface on Jhansighat bridge, breaking all the connectivity between both the districts. The flood-like condition has caused long queue of vehicles on both the sides of the bridge.

Dhuandhar falls disappears

According to information, the renowned waterfall, Dhuandhar falls has disappeared completely after rising water level in Narmada. The waterfall famous amongst the tourist for it's distinct feature of 'smoke' and 'steam' has submerged entirely under the rising water level.

Road which leads towards the Dhuandhar falls has also submerged under water. Officials have issued an alert and appealed people to avoid going anywhere near any riverbank or waterbody.
