The more relaxed and cool is the monsoon season, the greater the problem it brings problems to the skin. Cases of skin allergies, itching and fungal infections are greatly increased due to continuous rains, increased moisture and contact with dirt.
According to dermatologists, when the body remains wet for a long time and there is negligence in cleaning, it becomes an ideal atmosphere for fungus and bacteria. This is the reason that problems like ringworm, itching and rashes become common in the rain.
During the monsoon, there is high moisture in the air, which causes sweating in the body, but it does not dry quickly. The moisture persists for a long time, where there is a touch between the underarms, the thighs, and where the skin is touched. This moisture causes the fungus to flourish, causing infections like ringworm, athletes foot and Candida.
Dr. Saumya Sachdeva, Dermatologist of Max Hospital, says that, "Dirt, germs and contaminated water come more in contact with our body in the monsoon. Wet in the rain, wearing wet clothes for a long time or passing through dirty water increases skin allergies." Some people may have an allergic reaction to sweat, which may show symptoms like rash, irritation and swelling.
Keep the skin clean and dry: After bathing, dry every part of the body well, especially between the fingers and near the thighs.
Change wet clothes immediately: Wear dried clothes after getting wet with rain or sweat.
Wear loose and cotton clothes: Tight clothes trap moisture, causing skin irritation.
Use anti-fungal powder or cream: Using them proves to be effective when sweating.
Avoid walking in dirty water: If there is compulsion, come home and take a bath and wear clean clothes immediately.
Do not share personal things: Do not share things like towel, clothes or quince with anyone else.
If you are feeling itching, red rash, smelly sweating or irritation on the skin, do not ignore it. If you do not get relief from home remedy, seek immediate advice from a dermatologist.
The skin can be kept healthy and infection free by taking a little care in the monsoon. Being clean, keeping the body dry and the choice of right clothes can be very helpful in protecting them from fungal infections and allergies.
