50 Rupees Coin News In Marathi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the decision to ban notes on November 8, 2016. After that, the Modi government had introduced new notes in the market from Rs 10 to Rs 2000. Now there is a discussion whether a 50 rupee coin will come into circulation. Now the central government has presented a clear position on this in the Delhi High Court.

The central government informed the Delhi High Court that there are currently no plans to introduce a Rs 50 coin. The Finance Ministry has filed an affidavit stating that a survey conducted by the Reserve Bank in 2022 has shown that the general public prefers notes over coins of Rs 10 and Rs 20.

Meanwhile, this matter came to light during the hearing of a public interest litigation filed in the Delhi High Court by a petitioner named Rohit. The petition sought to make notes and coins of Rs 50 and below more recognizable for visually impaired citizens.

What is said in the petition filed in the Delhi High Court?

In the petition filed in the Delhi High Court, the petitioner has claimed that he has studied the flaws in the design of the currency. In which it has been found that the Rs 50 note is not clearly different from other notes. At the same time, the Finance Ministry also admitted that the new series of Mahatma Gandhi notes of Rs 10, 20 and 50 does not have fabric features like angular bleed lines and raised print. Due to excessive handling, these features wear out quickly. In the Delhi High Court, the Finance Ministry said that reintroducing these fabric features will have a major impact on production costs and efficiency.

The Ministry of Finance provided important information.

The Finance Ministry has said that although each note in the new Mahatma Gandhi series is different in size, visually impaired people can identify them by touch. The Ministry also acknowledged that there may be difficulty in identification as notes from the old and new series are in circulation at the same time. The Finance Ministry has expressed confidence in the Delhi High Court that since notes from the old series are naturally going out of circulation, the features of the new series will make it extremely easy for people with disabilities to identify them.
