There is talk of the two giants returning to the ground in August, as after the cancellation of India’s Bangladesh tour, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host a small white-ball series in August.
The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has proposed India to play a series of three ODIs and three T20 matches in August. These are the same matches that India first had to play in Bangladesh. However, the BCCI has not yet taken any final decision on the proposal. This decision also rests on what situation is made about India’s participation in the Asia Cup.
According to a Cricbuzz report, a BCCI source said, “A proposal has been received from Sri Lanka but no decision has been taken yet. We have to clarify the position of the Asia Cup first. All events are connected, so no step can be taken in haste.”
According to sources, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia will go to London for Lord’s Test being played in England this week. At the same time, the team’s coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and senior players will be discussed. Only then will Sri Lanka’s proposal be reacted.
On the other hand, the tour of Bangladesh was to be averted now. The reason behind this has been mentioned that both BCCI and Bangladesh Cricket Board are busy in international matches these days and there were problems about the schedule. It is now expected that this tour can be done in the year 2026.
