Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran
Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran held a meeting with members of the Tata Trust in a closed room of Bombay House on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Chandrasekaran reached Kolkata and met the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee there. After this, experts believe that the Tata group can once again turn to Kolkata.
Let us tell you that in 2006, Tata Motors was about to set up his Nano car plant in Singur, Bengal, but after Mamata Banerjee's opposition, she had to take her steps and shift this plant to Gujarat. Since then, there was no significant conversation between Tata Group and Mamta Banerjee, but this meeting of Chandrasekaran has made some gestures about the future plans of Tata Group.
Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran gave information about the performance and future plans of the group (Company Group) and future plans to the board of Tata Trusts in a closed room meeting at Bombay House on Tuesday. For a long time, those who monitor the group have described it as an important step taken away from the tradition. In this meeting, Nohl Tata, Mehli Mistry, Venu Srinivasan, Pramit Jhaveri, Daryas Khambata, Vijay Singh and Jahangir C. Jahangir were present.
According to internal sources in the group, during the tenure of Ratan Tata, the chairman of Tata Sons had never briefed the Trusts Board directly. This is the first time. Usually, the nominee (representative) of Tata Trusts used to give information from the board of Tata Sons to the trusts. Tata Trusts holds a 66% stake in Tata Sons, ie the controlling stake with them.
The Tata Trusts was started by the founding family of the group and is known for philanthropic works. Tata Trust's nominee is also on the board of Tata Sons such as Nohl Tata, Srinivasan and Vijay Singh. Nohl Tata himself is the chairman of Tata Trusts. It was told that in this update, the progress of large projects of the group like semiconductor, electric mobility, consumer app ecosystem and Air India so far were discussed. The Tata group has invested more than Rs 1.84 lakh crore in these areas in the last few years.
Apart from this, what steps have been taken by the group about the Air India accident in Ahmedabad on June 12, it was also informed on following rules and providing relief to passengers. All the business and future plans of the group were discussed in this meeting which lasted for about two hours.
