Many times you must have felt that your muscles are getting weak, or sometimes you feel a sharp tingling sensation. Have you ever thought that this tingling sensation is due to a vitamin deficiency? Know its causes and prevention.

Muscle Weakness and Tingling: If you frequently feel muscle weakness in your body, your hands and feet become numb or you experience a tingling sensation, do not take it lightly. These signs may indicate a serious nutritional deficiency i.e. vitamin deficiency. Especially vitamin B12 and vitamin D deficiency are common causes of these symptoms.

Muscle weakness in the body and tingling in hands and feet can be a common but worrying sign. Many people ignore it thinking it to be a problem related to fatigue or age, whereas these symptoms can be a sign of some serious deficiency or hidden disease in the body. Let us know why muscle weakness and tingling occurs.

Vitamin B12 deficiency and effects

Dr Santram Verma, a senior physician at Ghaziabad District Hospital, explains that vitamin B12 is very important for keeping the nervous system healthy. When there is a deficiency of it in the body, the nerves do not function properly. The result is tingling in the hands and feet, numbness, dizziness, fatigue and muscle weakness. Many times people feel numbness in their hands or feet after sleep or feel a strange tingling sensation in the feet while walking. All these symptoms can be related to B12 deficiency. If this deficiency persists for a long time, neurological problems can also occur.

Vitamin D deficiency and muscle weakness

Vitamin D deficiency disturbs the balance of calcium in the body, which affects the bones as well as the muscles. This can weaken the muscles, cause pain and a feeling of heaviness in the body. Its effect is more severe in the elderly. Problems like difficulty in walking, fatigue and stiffness in the muscles can occur. Many times people think that this is the effect of increasing age or fatigue, but in reality it can be due to vitamin D deficiency.

Other nutrients also play a role

Vitamin E deficiency can also cause nerve damage and tingling. Magnesium and potassium deficiency can cause muscle cramps and weakness. Iron deficiency can also cause fatigue and feeling of heaviness in the body.

How to identify?

If these symptoms are felt repeatedly, it is necessary to get a blood test done by a doctor. The exact cause can be found out by getting vitamin B12, D and other minerals tested.

How to complete it?

Consume milk, cheese, eggs, fish and supplements for vitamin B12

Get sunlight for vitamin D and take supplements from your doctor if needed

Eat green vegetables, dry fruits and whole grains for magnesium

If the body feels constantly tired, muscles are getting weak or there is frequent tingling, then do not ignore it. Proper diet and timely treatment can provide relief from these problems.
