Sarwat Gilani is preparing for a television return in 2025, following a deliberate break to focus on personal priorities. The acclaimed actress—known for her memorable roles in dramas like Dil-e-Muztar and Churails, as well as her celebrated performance in the Cannes-recognized film Joyland—has carefully curated her recent career choices, opting for fewer but meaningful projects

Sarwat Gilani’s selective approach reflects her philosophy: “I feel one must do less, but good work,” she shared on Mazaaq Raat, explaining that she avoids overexposure by appearing in only two major projects per year. This approach, she believes, fosters anticipation and ensures that audiences trust her creative decisions

Though her television presence has been sparse, Gilani has continued working on impactful roles in film and digital media. She featured in Saim Sadiq’s Joyland (2022), which garnered Cannes recognition, and starred in the Zee5 anthology Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam During her time away from TV screens, she also welcomed her third child late last year.

In addition to acting, Gilani remains deeply involved in advocacy. She has served as Brand Ambassador for Special Olympics Pakistan and the Indus Hospital Health Network, and in September 2024 was appointed Brand Ambassador for the National Commission on the Rights of the Child—a role that underscores her dedication to child welfare. More recently, she launched “Art House,” an inclusive after-school space supporting children with diverse abilities and backgrounds

Looking ahead, Gilani is gearing up for a multi-faceted return:

  • A forthcoming television serial penned by writer Sarwat Nazir and directed by Marina Khan is in the works, promising a compelling addition to 2025 lineup

  • She is also developing her own feature film, working collaboratively with a writer and hoping to begin production by year’s end.

  • Gilani continues to express interest in cross-border collaborations, reinforcing that art should transcend national divides. “It is time to expand… you are only spreading inclusion, love, narratives and stories that need to be told across borders,” she recently remarked

Sarwat Gilani’s return appears thoughtfully planned—balancing quality television roles with creative ventures in film, digital media, and social impact. Her next television project, in particular, is being closely watched not only for its artistic promise but also for what it signals about Pakistan’s evolving drama landscape.
