Shares of Anant Raj Ltd.(up 1.25 per cent) and Raymond Ltd.(up 0.63 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Godrej Properties Ltd.(down 2.22 per cent), DLF Ltd.(down 1.98 per cent), Brigade Enterprises Ltd.(down 1.57 per cent), Sobha Ltd.(down 1.48 per cent) and Phoenix Mills Ltd.(down 1.38 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Realty index closed 1.21 per cent down at 962.9.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 205.41 points at 25149.85, while the BSE Sensex stood down 689.81 points at 82500.47.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 ended in the green, while 38 closed in the red.
