Patna. The education system of Bihar is once again in the discussion, this time the reason is – transfer of teachers on a large scale in government schools. This recent transfer has deteriorated educational balance in many schools. Somewhere the student-teacher ratio has become highly unbalanced, then the teachers of special subjects have become completely absent. This imbalance has not only affected the quality of studies, but has also affected the continuity and interest of students.
Impact of transfer
The transfer of teachers has the greatest impact on those schools which were already struggling with lack of resources. In some schools, there are no teachers of major subjects like science, mathematics or English. There are many schools where the number of students is in hundreds, but the number of teachers teaching can be counted on the fingers. Due to new appointments and promotion, principal teachers were also transferred from schools, which has also affected the administrative system. This has also made it challenging to maintain educational discipline and coordination in schools.
Government’s solution
In view of these challenges, the Bihar Education Department has found a quick solution. An order has been issued under the leadership of Director of Secondary Education, Dinesh Kumar, under which district education officials have been instructed to depute teachers from nearby schools in schools required. This deputation will be of teachers of the same subject, so that there is no negative effect on the quality of teaching.
Process and transparency
The use of “e-education portal” has been made mandatory to make this process transparent and trackable. The details of each deputed teacher will be recorded on this portal. In addition, a separate deputation register will be prepared which will have details of each teacher’s name, transfer order number, original school and current workplace.
Initiative to maintain educational balance
The government has also clarified that the studies from which teachers will be deputed should not be interrupted. The direct intention of this is that the deputation should be balanced and need based, not at the cost of giving a schoolless to a school. The Education Department has taken a tough stand on compliance with this instruction. It has been warned that if a teacher or officer disregarded the instructions, departmental disciplinary action will be taken against him.
