On July 9, 2025, a firing took place at Kapil Sharma's Kap's Cafe in Surrey, Canada. Babbar Khalsa Operative, Harjeet Singh Laddi, claimed responsibility for the attack. Now, according to a report in Times of India, Pro-Khalistan separatist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in a video, has threatened Kapil Sharma and has told him to take his 'blood money back to Hindustan'. Pannun stated, "To Kapil and every other Modi-brand Hindutva investor: Canada is not your playground. Take your blood money back to Hindustan. Canada will not allow violent Hindutva ideology to take root on Canadian soil under the guise of business."Reportedly, he further went on to question that why Kapil "who chants Mera Bharat Mahan and and openly endorses Modi's Hindutva" was investing in Canada and not in India. Kap's Cafe's Statement After The Attack After the shocking incident, the cafe on their Instagram handle shared a statement about it. They wrote, "We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock but we are not giving up (sic)."The statement further read, "Your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM mean more than you know. This cafe exists because of your belief in what we’re building together. Let’s stand firm against violence and ensure Kap’s Cafe remains a place of warmth and community. From all of us at Kap’s Cafe, thank you and see you soon, under better skies (sic)."While the cafe has shared a statement, Kapil has not spoken about it yet. The incident has shocked one and all. Reportedly, Kap's Cafe was just opened a couple of days before the attack took place.
