In a candid chat on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast popular actress Shruti Haasan shared an insightful perspective on the humble public image of South Indian superstars. While they may seem modest off-screen Shruti says this isnt always their natural personality trait; it’s often rooted in a deep-seated fear of losing success. “They believe that it will all go away if they aren’t humble” Shruti revealed suggesting that their grounded demeanour is a conscious choice. “For the sake of success they stay humble that is the keyword. They feel that Saraswati ka haath hat jayega” she said adding that there’s an inherent reverence for art and artistry among these actors. Which industry gave Shruti Haasan her big break? Despite her pan-India career Shruti admits Tollywood will always be special to her. “My life changed because Telugu gave me my first home of success. Hyderabad and I have always had a connection” she said. She fondly recalled attending an award show as a child to collect an award on behalf of her father reading out his speech and dreaming of one day accepting one for herself. Initially wanting to be a director fate had other plans and she embraced acting. What was it like working with the big names? Having shared screen space with names like Pawan Kalyan Vijay Prabhas and now Rajinikanth in her upcoming film Coolie Shruti shared some personal anecdotes. She said “Both Pawan Kalyan and Vijay are ‘very quiet gentlemen’ but Prabhas isn’t” she said with a smile. “He’s so fun. He’s been so kind to me. He’s thankful (for his success) but he’s very nonchalant. Some days he’s still processing it to be honest. He’s seen his share of challenges and now this has happened; there’s something very human and sweet about him.” When it comes to Rajinikanth Shruti couldn’t stop praising his vibe on set. She said “He is very nice and easy to converse with. He doesn’t carry that gravitas... he brings a lot of good energy.” From decoding industry behaviour to sharing warm behind-the-scenes stories Shruti Haasan’s candid revelations show us the human side of superstardom — one rooted in humility artistry and fear of losing the very magic that made them icons.
