New Delhi: Ravindra Jadeja once again proved his importance to Team India. In the third Test being played at Lord’s he scored a crucial half-century in pressure conditions helping India move closer to England’s first-innings score of 387 runs. Jadeja handled the innings in difficult times and got the team out with difficulty. It was his third consecutive fifty in the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy.
What did Jadeja do?
Jadeja rescued India in difficult conditions and kept the wicket at the other end. With both ball and bat they are making valuable contributions to the team. Even though he has not taken many wickets on foreign pitches he is proving to be a hugely important player by saving runs in the fielding and showing consistency in the bat.
How was history made?
Ravindra Jadeja reached a significant milestone by completing his 15th half-century in the World Test Championship (WTC). With 134 wickets and over 2000 runs to his name he has now become the first player in WTC history to register 15 fifties along with more than 130 wickets. This remarkable achievement highlights his exceptional all-round capabilities on the international stage.
In what position is India?
India started the third day at 145/3 and added over 100 runs in the first session. Pant scored 74 runs playing in an attacking style but was run out on the last ball of the session. KL Rahul scored a brilliant century but was soon dismissed.
Built a partnership with Washington Sundar?
Jadeja held one end and formed important partnerships with Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar. At the time of writing India were only 35 runs behind England and looked in a position to take the lead. The pitch is flat so it remains a challenging contest for both teams.
