After scientific experiment in space for 17 days, the farewell and banquet was organized for Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla and his three other fellow astronauts on Sunday evening. A special moment of farewell of Shubhanshu Shukla and his comrades was held as a ceremony at 7:25 pm today (Indian time). This team of Axiom-4 mission will return to Earth on Monday. The 18 -day mission at the International Space Station (ISS) will end on Monday. The team of the Axiom-4 mission is expected to land on the California coast on Monday. The mission was launched on 25 June and reached ISS on 26 June.
At the Farewell ceremony, Shubhanshu Shukla gave a message for India and said that he had gone to an Indian space 41 years ago and he told us what India looks like from space and I can tell you again that today’s India still looks good from all the people.
In his Farewell, Shubhanshu Shukla said that it was a wonderful journey. He thanked his colleagues as well as NASA, Axiom Mission as well as the Government of India and countrymen for this visit. He also said that I got a lot of experience with this journey. I am taking a lot from here.
Shubhanshu Shukla said in a message in Hindi in his Farewell, “It has been a wonderful journey. Now this journey of mine is going to end. But you and my journey are very long. The journey of our space mission is very long and very difficult. But I assure you that it is possible if we decide.
As soon as the Axiom-4 mission was about to end, the astronauts on the ISS gathered for the different menu banquet of six countries that they represent. American astronaut Johnny Kim said in a post on X on 10 July, “One of my most unforgettable evenings spent on the mission was to eat with new friends, AX-4 at the international space station. We shared stories and wondered how people from different backgrounds and countries came together to represent humanity in space. Our main meal included delicious chicken and beef fuzza. At the same time astronauts concluded the night with delicious cakes made of sweet bread, condensed milk and walnuts.
The Axiom-4 mission has a total of four astronauts. Which includes crew-commander Pegi Whitson, Pilot Shubhanshu Shukla, Poland resident and mission expert Slavosz Uznanski-Visnivski, Hungary resident and mission expert Tibor Kapu. The team will depart from the International Space Station (ISS) on Monday at 4:35 pm Indian time (7:05 AD).
While spending time in space, Shubhanshu Shukla worked on the use of Myogenesis inside the Biology Glovbox (LSG). The purpose of this experiment is to understand why living in space weakens the muscles of human skeletal. This problem is a big challenge for astronauts. If scientists will understand the biological reasons behind these changes, then they can develop treatments that can especially fix this problem. Such treatments will not only help astronauts, but can also benefit those on earth who are suffering from muscle diseases.
Shubhanshu Shukla used microalgy in space. Microelgy (micro algae) can become a source of food, oxygen and biofuel for future space trips. In addition, he participated in several researches, including checking and repairing spacesuits, exercise research, eye activity and coordination, brain effects, cognitive ability and learning tests, brain waves and blood flow monitoring and calculating radiation dose.
In addition, astronauts studied the speed and direction of blood flow in the brain. For this, he first installed the necessary software and then completed the first experiment. In this study, ultrasound technology was used to understand how blood flows in the brain in a state of gravity.
According to ISRO, Shubhanshu Shukla after Splashdown will have to undergo a 7 -day rehabilitation program under the supervision of a flight surgeon to be adapted to the Earth’s gravity. Shukla and three other astronauts are expected to conduct the necessary tests before riding in the spacecraft at 2.25 pm, wearing their space suit and starting the Earth’s journey.
According to a report by news agency PTI, ISRO paid around Rs 550 crore for Shukla’s ISS visit. Shubhanshu Shukla’s experience is expected to help the space agency plan and implement its human space flight program Gaganyaan in 2027.
