India is a place where there are many temples dedicated to deities, which have unique attraction and importance. The month of Sawan has started from July 11 and this month is very special for Shiva devotees. In this month, devotees visit different Shiva temples.

There are many temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in India. Some of which are considered mysterious as the Shivalingas of the temples. In this article, we are telling about the 5 mysterious Shivalingas of India, know their strange story.

1) Mahakaleshwar Temple, Madhya Pradesh

Located on the banks of the holy Shipra River in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, the Mahakaleshwar Temple is a symbol of devotion and spiritual enthusiasm. This temple, dedicated to the fierce form of Lord Shiva as Mahakal, has immense importance in Hindu mythology and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. It is said that Lord Shiva killed his devotees by killing a demon named Dushan here, after which Bholebaba sits here after the request of the devotees.

2) Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Uttar Pradesh

The Kashi Vishwanath Temple of Varanasi situated on the banks of the holy Ganges River is one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, the Kashi Vishwanath temple, considered the center of the universe, is full of history and spirituality. It is believed that when Goddess Parvati was staying at her father's house, she did not feel good at all. Then Goddess Parvati asked Lord Shiva to take her to her house one day. At that time, Lord Shiva brought her to Kashi after obeying Goddess Parvati and established herself as Vishwanath-Jyotirlinga.

3) Ramanathaswamy Temple, Tamil Nadu

The Ramanathaswamy Temple, situated on the ancient island of Rameswaram on the south-east coast of Tamil Nadu, is a revered pilgrimage center. The deity of this temple dedicated to the Ramanathaswamy form of Lord Shiva was worshiped by Lord Rama himself.

4) Baijnath Temple, Himachal Pradesh

Baijnath Temple, located in a bizarre city called Baijnath in Himachal Pradesh, is an ancient pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that the Pandavas built it during their exile. Surrounded by greenery and snow -covered peaks, the Baijnath temple attracts devotees.

5) Trimbakeshwar Temple, Maharashtra

Trimbakeshwar Temple is situated amidst the natural beauty of the Brahmagiri hills in Nashik district of Maharashtra. This temple dedicated to Lord Shiva's Trinithari Trimbak form is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas due to extreme importance. It is said that Gautam Rishi did harsh penance here. After which Lord Shiva asked Gautam Rishi to ask for a bride, then Maharishi ji asked for the boon of Goddess Ganga to appear at this place. But on this, Mother Ganga laid the condition that if Lord Shiva stays at this place, then she will stay here. Assuming this condition, Lord Shiva took the form of Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga and settled here.
