Once during his class in Kolhapur Maharashtra he met Sarita Birje. She used to come to attend Madhavans lectures to get trained to become an air hostess. In an interview to a media house Madhavan recalled his first meeting with Sarita and said I met Sarita when I was taking personality development classes in Kolhapur. During that time she aspired to get a job in an airline and used to come to my class for training. When she finally got the job she thought that it was partly because of my class and she took me to dinner as a thank you. After getting a job in an airline company and getting a lot of help from Madhavans excellent coaching Sarita planned the entire dinner. However Madhavan had started feeling something different for Sarita by then so he took advantage of this opportunity for the first time and immediately said yes to dinner. He said in an interview to PTI - Sarita was my student and one day she asked me to go for dinner. I thought it was a good opportunity. I did not know if I would ever get married or not so I took advantage of the opportunity and later I got married to Sarita. Madhavan and Sarita got married with all the rituals After dating each other for eight years both got married in 1999 with traditional Tamil rituals. This marriage proved lucky for Madhavan because only after this he got a chance to act in Mani Ratnams film Alai Payuthe released in 2000. This film was a huge hit at that time; everyone liked Madhavans acting. How did Maddy get a big break in Bollywood? In 2001 Madhavan got a big break in Bollywood with the film Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein in which he was paired with Dia Mirza. Although this film was not successful his character and songs were well-liked.
