However Daboo Malik never reached the fame or visibility of Anu Malik. And now Amal Malik Daboo Malik’s son and a successful composer himself is speaking out claiming his uncle may have played a role in dimming his father’s shine. Heres what exactly Amal said In a candid interview with Siddharth Kannan Amal didnt hold back and said “When my dad would land a project Anu chacha would go to the producers and offer to do it for less money—or even for free.” Amal alleges this wasn’t only an incident but a pattern of professional undercutting that spanned years. He even revealed “He does the same to me sometimes. Whenever I make an announcement he tries to jump into it.” Was there personal tension too? Surprisingly Amal describes a duality in the relationship between the brothers. When they’re together no one can separate them. They behave like crazy brothers. But when it comes to work Anu gets jealous. He always wanted to prove he was the best in the family. This competitive dynamic according to Amal led to long-term emotional and mental strain for his father. How did it affect Daboo Malik? Amal disclosed that his father battled depression between the ages of 32 and 45. Despite working on over 70 films Daboo never received the industry recognition he deserved. “People only knew him as Anu Malik’s brother” Amal said. “No one ever invited him. He always struggled. I just want to erase that ‘struggle’ label from his story.” More than fame Amal seems to want fairness. “I don’t want us to be known as Anu Malik’s nephews. I want people to call him Amal and Armaan’s chacha.” And perhaps that’s the real tune Amal Malik wants to compose—a legacy built on justice not just music.
