Drama writer Rida Bilal has publicly distanced herself from the TV serial Behrupiyacurrently airing on Green TV, claiming that the script has been altered without her consent and the version being aired is no longer her original work.

Behrupiya has garnered attention for its unique storyline and characters. While many viewers have appreciated the show, it has also received criticism — particularly for its portrayal of sensitive issues like second marriages, divorce, and domestic violence. Starring Faysal Quraishi and Madiha Imam in lead roles, the drama revolves around a woman named Mahnoor who, after remarrying, discovers her new husband is deeply troubled and suffers from psychological issues.

According to The Express TribuneRida Bilal expressed her disapproval in a strongly worded Instagram post. She stated that the televised version of Behrupiya differs significantly from the story she originally wrote. She alleged that the script was altered without her permission, and therefore, the drama no longer reflects her creative vision.

In her post, she wrote, “When your name is attached to something that no longer represents your voice, it becomes necessary to speak up.” She went on to claim that the characters were distorted, scenes were changed, and the essence of the story was lost in the process. “What is airing on TV now is not my writing,” she added.

Rida emphasized that the drama has completely deviated from her original concept, and no longer represents her ideas, words, or the emotional depth with which the story was originally created.

She also criticized the broadcasting channel and the director, stating that what is now on screen is a result of the channel’s negligence, the director’s personal choices, and a reflection of their inner ‘writer’.

As of now, there has been no response from Green TV, the production team, or the actors involved in Behrupiya regarding Rida Bilal’s claims.
