Every Record Broke in AUS vs WI 3rd Test: What a day at Sabina Park on Tuesday as Australia dismantled the West Indies in just 27 runs in the second innings to bag a 176-run victory. This total is the second lowest ever in Tests.
Not only this, but a handful of records were also shattered during the Kangaroos’ riot over the Caribbeans. We will have a look at those.
The most prominent one is, of course, the second-lowest total ever registered in the history of red ball cricket. Had it a run lower to 27, they would have gotten the crown for the lowest ever.
The List of Lowest Totals in Test Cricket:
Team | Score | Against | Venue | Season |
New Zealand | 26 | England | Auckland | 1954/55 |
West Indies | 27 | Australia | Kingston | 2025 |
South Africa | 30 | England | Gqeberha | 1895/96 |
South Africa | 30 | England | Birmingham | 1924 |
South Africa | 35 | England | Cape Town | 1898/99 |
The second one would be that this was the first time the West Indies lost every match in a Test series, which had 3 or more matches, on their home soil. Windies lost all three Test matches to Australia this time.
West Indies were bowled out in only 14.3 oversmaking it the third-fastest completed innings ever recorded in Test cricket.
Australia’s ace pacer Mitchell Stark became the second quickest bowler to reach 400 wickets in terms of balls, only behind South African legend Dale Steyn (19064 balls).
The second most wickets in the first over: Mitchell Starc (23 wickets) is only behind James Anderson (29 wickets) to take more wickets in the first over of an innings.
Starc also became the second person to take 3 wickets in the very first over of an innings. The first was done by former India star Irfan Pathan in 2006 against Pakistan.
Starc also took 6 wickets in the innings. The first 5 came in 4.3 overs which makes the quickest 5-wicket hauls in history.
West Indies got another humiliating record in their names as their top 6 batters could only score 6 runs together, the lowest score by the top 6 in a Test innings. A total of seven West Indies batters failed to score, setting a new record for the most ducks in a single Test innings.
