Actor, director, and producer Nabeel Zafar recently revealed that playing a serious role had a significant impact on his mental well-being.
In a candid interview on morning show, Nabeel spoke openly about various topics, including relationships, acting, and mental health.
While discussing marriage, he shared his belief that it is a bond were claiming to fully understand your partner can actually weaken the relationship. According to Nabeel, the most successful relationships are those in which both partners spend their entire lives trying to understand each other.
He emphasized that marriage is a reality, not a fantasy or illusion, and only those relationships thrive that are grounded in real life — not in an imaginary world.
Speaking about his work, Nabeel said that while singing is often described as something that brings peace to the mind, acting tends to have the opposite effect. He explained that acting — especially serious roles — can deeply affect an actor’s mental state.
He shared a specific example from his current drama serial Sherin which he plays the father of actress Sarah Khan’s character. In one particularly intense scene, his character poisons his own daughter. Nabeel revealed that after performing that scene, he was left mentally disturbed. When he returned home and saw his real-life daughter, his emotional turmoil intensified.
He explained that acting in comedy dramas helps an actor maintain emotional balance, but serious and emotionally charged roles can take a toll on one’s mental health.
Nabeel further stated that when an actor truly commits to a role and strives to do complete justice to it, the impact of that character inevitably leaves a mark on the mind.
