New Delhi: According to former England captain Nasir Hussain, Liam Dawson can be strengthened by the host team by putting Liam Dawson at number eight. The fourth Test match between the two countries is going to start in Manchester from July 23.

35 -year -old left arm spin bowling all -rounder Liam Dawson last played a Test match for England in July 2017. He has returned to the team after Shoaib Bashir was injured in Lord’s. England won the second Test by 22 runs at Lord’s to take a 2–1 lead in the five-match series.

Hussain wrote in his column for ‘Daily Mail’ on Wednesday, “Shoaib is sad for Bashir, but this is the nature of the game. One player’s injury opens the way for the other player. Dawson has a chance to prove that she is not only the ball, but also how the best players are from their Harfanmoula game.”

Nasir Hussain said, “If the dawson goes off to bat at number 8, it can begin a very strong lower order. Gas Atkinson, who has scored a Test century at number 9 and the presence of bridan cars who bat great in Lord’s at number 10 makes it stronger.”

The former captain believes that the selection of Dawson is a big sign that England does not want to give a chance to the left -arm spinner Jack Leach now, who played the last Test in October 2024. He said, “It is clear that England has moved beyond Jack Leach. There are good relations between Leach and Ben Stokes, but they do not have an all -rounder like Dawson.

Hussain further said, “This can be important when England decide which spin bowlers to take in this winter. You need firmness to succeed there, and it is plenty of in Dawson. It can prove to be important when England will choose the spin bowlers for this winter tour. Australia needs a strong jaws. Is.” Liam Dawson is consistently performing well for Hampshire at the County Championship. He was also selected ‘PCA Player of the Year’ in 2023 and 2024.
