IND vs Eng: Despite a wonderful victory against India in Lord’s Test, the England cricket team has suffered a major setback. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a fine of 10 percent match fee on England for the slow over rate and has deducted two important points of the World Test Championship (WTC). After this sentence, the percentage of England’s victory has fallen from 66.67 to about 60 percent, due to which the team has lost from second place in WTC rankings. The strict rules of the ICC have faded the joy of England’s victory on the field.
ICC Elite Panel match referee Richie Richardson found England team guilty of slow over rate. Investigation revealed that England threw two overs less in the stipulated time. Under the Article 2.22 of the Code of Conduct of the ICC, 5 percent of the match fees of the players are fined for each low-thrown over for minimum over-rate offenses. On this basis, England was sentenced to 10 percent match fee penalty and two WTC points reduction.
England captain Ben Stokes accepted the crime of slow over rate and also approved the penalty proposed by the ICC. Due to this, there was no need for formal hearing in the case. Grain umpire Paul Refel and Shafuddaula Ibne Shahid, third umpire Ahsan Raza, and fourth umpire Graham Lloyd accused England, which was found correct by Richie Richardson.
After the Lord’s Test victory, the percentage of England’s victory was 66.67, which reflected his strong position in three matches. However, after a two -digit cuts, this figure has been reduced to about 60 percent. This punishment has affected England’s WTC rankings and the team has now come in third place. This punishment is a big lesson for England that along with victory on the field, the rules of sports are equally important.
