Symptoms of sciatica: If there is pain from the lower back to the legs, there is tingling or numbness in the feet, then do not ignore it as a common back pain. This can be sciatica, in which the pressure on the body is affected due to pressure on the vein. If you see such symptoms, consult a physiotherapist or neuro spine specialist immediately. Timely treatment can control pain and prevent the vein from further damage.

Sometimes, from the lower part of the waist to the buttocks and the sharp pain going towards the foot, it causes a lot of pain. This pain increases when walking, bending or standing upright. In most cases, it is due to pressure on sciatic nerve, which is called Sciatica in medical language. Let us understand why these problems occur and what are its symptoms. Dr. Sankalp Jaiswal has told about this in Kailash Hospital in Noida.

What is Sciatica?

Dr. Gangesh Gunjan in Neurosurgery Department at Sarvodaya Hospital It is said that Sciatica occurs when there is pressure on the longest vein of the body (which is called Cytic Nerve) or it is irritated. This vein starts from the bottom of the waist and goes through the buttocks and legs to the claws. When the slip disc, disc desiccation, spinal stenosis (contraction in the spine) or any injury creates pressure around this vein, there may be swelling or irritation in the vein.

What are the main symptoms of Sciatica?

- Pain from waist to legs: This pain often occurs on one side and spreads downwards.

- Tingling or numbness: Especially feeling numbness in the feet or claws.

- Weakness: Weakness can occur in the feet due to prolonged pressure.

- Difficulty in sitting or getting up: Pain can increase when sitting for a long time and is shocked while getting up.

Problem in walking: Some people have to be lame or it is difficult to raise legs while walking.

Why does it cause pain in walking due to pressure on the vein?

The longest and thick vein in our body is Sciatic NervE, which comes out of the lower part of the spine and goes to both legs via hips. When some reason this vein is under pressure- such as slip disc, disk dysication or bone inflammation, this vein is unable to send the message correctly. Due to which pain, tingling or weakness is felt.
