A horrific road accident in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand has run a wave of mourning in the entire area. A Max Jeep near Bhandari village in Muwani region, which was full of passengers, fell uncontrollably into a deep river. In this horrific accident, 8 people died on the spot, while 3 others were seriously injured. The accident happened when Jeep was going from Muvani towards Bokta village. Local people and passers -by immediately started rescue work, but the depth of the river and inaccessible areas made the work challenging.
Police, revenue department, and disaster management teams reached the spot as soon as the news of the accident was received. Local people also put their lives at risk and helped to remove the injured from the ditch. The injured were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, where their condition is said to be critical. There were a total of 13 passengers in the jeep, and the administration is still engaged in confirming the exact number and identity of those killed in the accident. This incident has once again raised serious questions about road safety in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed deep grief over the incident. Expressing his condolences through social media, he said, “This tragic accident in the Muvani area of Pithoragarh has shocked the mind. I pray to God that the souls of the deceased get peace and their families have the power to suffer this sorrow
