India’s farming community is anxiously waiting for the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. While the payout was initially expected in June 2025, there has been no official announcement yet, even as July nears its end. The delay has sparked widespread curiosity and concern among beneficiaries. However, a ray of hope has emerged with expectations that the government may release the funds on July 18, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Bihar.
The 19th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme was credited to farmers’ accounts on February 24, 2025. Following the quarterly schedule, the 20th installment was expected by June 2025, covering the April-July period. However, unlike previous cycles, no payments have been made yet, and no official timeline has been confirmed.
This unexpected delay has led to widespread speculation. While the government has not provided a specific explanation, some experts suggest the pause could be linked to administrative verifications such as e-KYC updates, land record verification, and syncing of bank account and Aadhaar details.
According to official sources, PM Modi will visit Motihari, Bihar, on July 18 to inaugurate and lay the foundation for projects worth ₹7,100 crore, covering sectors like transport, electronics, railways, and IT. It is widely expected that he may also use this public platform to announce or initiate the release of the 20th installment.
Many believe that if the installment is indeed scheduled for July 18, the official announcement could be made as early as July 17.
The visit to Motihari isn’t solely focused on PM-KISAN. During the same event, ₹162 crore will be transferred to the bank accounts of 40,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin. Additionally, 12,000 individuals will receive keys to newly constructed houses. Under this housing scheme, beneficiaries receive ₹1.20 lakh in three installments to construct pucca homes.
Let’s take a quick look at the recent installment history:
17th Installment: Credited on June 18, 2024
19th Installment: Disbursed on February 24, 2025
In contrast, the 20th installment, covering the April–July 2025 cycle, remains pending well into July. This inconsistency has left farmers uncertain about the scheme’s current timeline.
To avoid delays or payment failures, the government has advised farmers to:
Complete their e-KYC verification
Ensure their Aadhaar is correctly linked with bank accounts and mobile numbers
Update land ownership records and Farmer ID registration
Check beneficiary status on the PM-KISAN portal regularly
Without fulfilling these mandatory steps, farmers risk being excluded from the upcoming installment.
Although there's still no official confirmation, July 18 is shaping up to be a potential turning point for PM-KISAN beneficiaries. With PM Modi scheduled to visit Bihar and the possibility of a major financial announcement on the agenda, farmers across the country are keeping a close eye on updates from the government.
Until then, it's crucial for all eligible beneficiaries to ensure their documents and KYC details are up to date. Doing so not only ensures they receive the upcoming installment on time but also keeps them enrolled for future payments under one of India's most impactful agricultural welfare schemes.
