IIM Course: If you dream of studying at IIM, one of the prestigious institutes of the country, then a great opportunity is about to come for you. Now, to study at IIM Bangalore, you will not have to give a difficult exam like CAT. Instead, you can get admission to IIM directly after 12th through a national-level entrance exam. Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) has announced that it is starting two four-year undergraduate degree courses, BSc (Hons) in Economics and BSc (Hons) in Data Science from August 2026.

Both these courses will be conducted at the new Jigani campus of the institute, which comes under the School of Multidisciplinary Studies of IIMB. These courses are designed in such a way that students can choose an optional supplementary (minor) subject along with their main subject. This will not only give them expertise in their field but will also develop an understanding of other subjects. This entire framework has been prepared keeping in mind the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

80 seats in the first batch, expansion to be done by 2031
The admission process for the first batch will start from September 2025, and a total of 80 students will be admitted. There will be 40 seats in each subject. The institute plans to increase the number of seats to 640 in the new campus by 2031. A special team of 15 faculty members will be appointed for the initial teaching work, which will include current and new professors of IIMB.

Course features: internship, exchange program, and flexible exit

These courses will also include two internship cycles, an international exchange program, and the option to leave the degree after three years, as proposed in the NEP. The course has been designed with practical, interdisciplinary, and modern concepts.

Admission process and eligibility criteria
For admission, students will have to score a minimum of 60% marks in class 12th with Maths and 60% marks in total in class 10th. Apart from this, there will also be a national-level entrance exam and a personal interview. The maximum age has been fixed at 20 years for the general category and 22 years for reserved categories (as on 1 August 2025).

Annual Fee and Financial Aid

The fee for each year has been fixed at Rs 8.5 lakh. However, the institute will ensure that no deserving student is deprived of education due to financial constraints. According to Prof. Krishnan, financial aid up to 20% has already been arranged, and assistance will be provided to needy students.

Placement, Industry Exposure, and International Links

According to Professor Mukta Kulkarni, students will be given special assistance for placement. The curriculum will include updated topics according to the industry, internship opportunities, and international partnerships.
