New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) seem to be increasing in the case of stampede at Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium. The Karnataka government has approved a criminal case against RCB and State Cricket Association.
This decision has been taken after accepting the report of Justice Michael de Kunha Commission in the sitting of the Cabinet of the Government of Karnataka. During the investigation, this commission revealed many irregularities and disturbances in RCB and KSCA.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was submitted to the Judicial Commission report on 11 July. According to the report, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), program organizers DNA Entertainment and Bangalore Police are directly responsible for the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium on 4 June.
The D Kunha Commission was given a month’s time to investigate the matter. During the investigation, the Commission inspected the scene. The statements of eyewitnesses, police officers, KSCA officials and government representatives were recorded. The panel found that there was a huge shortage of security system. Only 79 policemen were stationed inside the stadium, there was no police deployment outside. There was no ambulance on the spot.
The Karnataka government directly held RCB directly responsible for the Bengaluru stampede on Thursday (17 July 2025). In its report submitted to the High Court, the government pointed to many flaws. This report states that RCB, DNA and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) failed in effective coordination.
The report said, the dislocation spread due to the safety system at the entry gate, delay in opening the gate, due to which a stampede -like situation arose and seven policemen were also injured. The investigation revealed that the prominent officials did not take immediate action. The Joint Police Commissioner reached the spot at 4 pm, while the police commissioner was not informed about the incident till 5:30 pm.
