Chennaiyin FC and head coach Owen Coyle have parted ways after a disappointing season in the Indian Super League (ISL). The team finished 11th out of 13 teams in the 2024–25 season, failing to qualify for the playoffs.

This was Coyle’s second stint with the club. In his earlier spell during the 2019–20 season, he took the team to the finals. But this time, the team struggled with inconsistency and defensive problems throughout the season.

Coyle admitted that the team couldn’t maintain momentum and had issues closing out matches. Despite some bright moments, the overall performance fell short of expectations.

Chennaiyin FC has not yet named a replacement. The club said it is looking for a new coach who can help bring better results and take the team forward.
