Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat by 7 wickets against Bangladesh in the first T20I of the three-match series on Sunday (July 20). In the series opener played at the Shere Bangladesh National Stadium in Dhaka, Pakistan could only manage to score 110 runs in 19.3 overs after being invited to bat first by Litton Das and then, despite taking two wickets for 7 runs in 2.2 overs, failed to defend the 111-run target.

For the Pakistani team, opening batter Fakhar Zaman top-scored by amassing a total of 44 runs from 34 balls with the help of six fours and one six. The left-handed batter was, however, unlucky to miss out on a deserving half-century after getting run out in a hilarious mix-up with Khushdil Shah.
The incident took place on the third ball of the 12th over of the Pakistani innings, bowled by Mustafizur Rahman. Khushdil was on strike, and he played a shot to take one run. After completing one run, he called for the second one, but after reaching the halfway mark, he decided to cancel the run. Fakhar, who was on the opposite end, had also reached the halfway mark by then, and so when Khushdil said no, he had no option but to retack. But before he could return, the throw from Taskin Ahmed from the third-man region was well collected by wicketkeeper Litton Das at the striker’s end, and he shattered the stumps.

The clip of the hilarious mix-up between the two Pakistani batters was shared by fans on X, and within no time, the video went viral on the internet.

Here’s a look:

Khushdil, who was at fault for Fakhar’s wicket, faced 23 balls during his stay at the crease on Sunday and, with the help of one four and one six, scored 18 runs. He batted with a strike rate of 78.26. In the series opener, Taskin picked up three wickets for 22 runs in 3.3 overs, and two Pakistani batters were sent back to the pavilion by Mustafizur Rahman, who only conceded six runs in his quota of four overs.

The Pakistani team, which is playing in the away series without the likes of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf, would like to come up with a big show in the second match, which is set to take place at the same venue on Tuesday, July 22.
