Drying eyes are such a condition when there is not enough tears in the eyes, or the quality of tears in the eyes is not enough to keep the surface of the eye. This makes the eyes feel crushed, redness and discomfort. Dr. Pimpri -Chinchwad’s Advocate Ophthalmologist at Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital. Dhanshree Wankhede explained how the eyes are dry at the workplace.

What factors cause the eyes to dry?

The computer screen used in offices can also cause a problem of drying eyes.

If you spend a lot of time in front of the screen, your eyelids are reduced. This reduces the moisture required by the eyes.

Usually, the eyelids are exposed 3 to 5 times a minute. Therefore, a homogeneous layer of tears spreads over the eyes and the eyes remain damp. But the constant sitting in front of the screen reduces the exposed rate of the eyelids. As a result, evaporation of tears in the eyes quickly and the eyes are dry.

Even with the use of AC, the eyes are dry due to the reduction of moisture in the air. As a result, the evaporation of tears occurs at a speed.

Using a screen in the darkness causes more stress on the eyes and causes distress.

Also, if the screen is kept at a height or too far away from the eyes, the more part of the eye is open and the ability to expose the eyelids is reduced.

Redness of the eyes, tendons, fatigue or loss of vision are symptoms of drying eyes.

What a solution to this:

– If you go in front of the screen for a long time, take a break of 5 seconds every 5 minutes and look at someone that is 5 feet long.

– Lubricant drops can also be used by doctor’s advice.

– Regular eye examination should be done.
