Skoda and Volkswagen have issued recalls for five models, owing to seatbelt issues. So far, this is the second recall issued this year for seatbelts. As per reports, 1,821 units are affected by the recall, and earlier this year in May, 47,235 units were recalled.
The affected models by Skoda and Volkswagen that are part of the recall were manufactured between December 2021 and May 2025.
Skoda has issued a recall for three models: Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia, and a total of 860 units are affected. A statement by SIAM read, “This concern was identified during the ongoing quality inspection for Skoda Kushaq, Slavia and Kylaq manufactured during the aforesaid period.”
The 860 units of the recalled Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia are affected by a “frame crack in the metal base” and “incorrect parts” that were fitted, which can lead to a failure and will need replacement.
Volkswagen’s range that is affected includes the Virtus and the Taigun, and a total of 961 units fall under the recall. This is clearly a local manufacturing issue as the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Tiguan R Line, which are imported, do not fall under the recall.
In a separate case, though, the Polo, Passat, Taigo, ID 7, ID 7 Tourer and the ID Buzz were recalled for a safety issue internationally.
As with most recalls, the company would reach out to customers directly, or one can log into the official website of the manufacturers to find out directly by entering the VIN details of the vehicle. The fix will be done for free; however, no timeline details have been revealed for the same.
