Da hike final: There is good news for central government employees and pensioners! The government is seriously considering the increase in dearness allowance (DA) in 2025 and the introduction of the Eighth Pay Commission. This step can cause economic relief for millions of employees and pensioners. Come, let’s understand this news in detail and know how this change will affect your pocket.
Based on data from the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI), there is a possibility of an increase of about 3% in dearness allowance from July 2025. Currently DA is 55%, which can reach 58% after June 2025 data. The figures by May 2025 confirm this trend, and the June figures are awaited. If the AICPI index is around 144, the DA will remain stable up to 58.08%, which will be a major relief for the employees.
The AICPI index plays an important role in calculating dearness allowance. The figures from January to May 2025 are as follows:
January 2025: AICPI 143.2, DA 56.39%
February 2025: AICPI 142.8, DA 56.72%
March 2025: AICPI 143, DA 57.09%
April 2025: AICPI 143.5, DA 57.47%
May 2025: AICPI 144, DA 57.85%
After the arrival of June, it will be clear how much the DA will increase. Depending on the current trend, employees are expected to increase at least 3%, which will bring a significant increase in their monthly income.
Suppose a central employee gets a monthly salary of Rs 30,000. He gets Rs 16,500 according to the current 55% DA. If the DA increases to 58%, this amount will increase to Rs 17,400. That is, additional income of Rs 900 every month! This small increase can be a major step of economic security for employees and their families.
Discussions about the Eighth Pay Commission are also in full swing. According to sources, the new pay scale may be applicable from 1 January 2026. This commission will bring extensive changes in the salary structure of employees, which will further increase their income. The government reviews the DA every six months, and it can be an increase and attractive with the upcoming Pay Commission.
