Monsoon Skin Alert: These dangerous skin infections occur in rain, know how to avoid it?

The rainy season brings cold winds and relief with it, but with this it also causes many problems for the skin. Increased moisture in the air and living in wet clothes for a long time increases the risk of fungal and bacterial infection. People often ignore skin symptoms in monsoon, which can take the form of serious problems later.

So the question is, what are the most problems to skin in this rainy season and how can you protect yourself from them? Let’s know in detail-

athlete’s foot:

Athlete foot is a common monsoon skin infection caused by wet shoes and poat. This disease affects the skin between the toes and gives symptoms like redness, itching, bursting or irritation.

How to avoid:

  • Keep the feet clean and dry daily

  • Dry well between fingers after washing the feet

  • Apply antifungal powder if needed

  • Wear cotton socks and dried shoes

Shingles:

Monsoon is rapidly spreading fungal infection, shingles, which are seen as a round red rash on the skin. Itching causes a lot of trouble in this.

Rescue methods:

  • Keep the body clean and dry

  • Wear loose cotton

  • Use antifungal cream or powder

  • Do not share towel or clothes with anyone

  • If you do not get relief for two weeks, contact the doctor

Erytrasma:

This infection appears between the armpit, waist or toes and may feel mild itching or irritation.

Remedy to escape:

  • Take a bath with antibacterial soap daily

  • Keep the skin dry and avoid tight clothes

  • Apply antibacterial powder

  • Change wet clothes immediately

  • If the stains start deteriorating then consult a doctor

Foliculitis:

In folliculitis, red, itchy pimples come out near the hair roots which are caused by sweat and moisture.

Precautions:

  • Exfoliate skin once a week with light hands

  • Use aloe vera or tea tree oil while bathing

  • Do not shaving on rashes

  • Meet a doctor on pain, swelling or increasing infection

Heat rashes/prickly:

Due to sweat in the monsoon, the pores are closed, which causes prickly heat. These are small pimples like pimples which are seen on the neck, chest etc.

Rescue methods:

  • Take bath with cold water

  • Stay in fans or AC

  • Wear loose and light clothes

  • Apply calamine or oatmeal lotion

  • If the heat is not cured in a few days, there is pain or fever, then see the doctor
