In a thrilling conclusion to the three-match series, the Indian women’s cricket team secured a 2-1 victory against England, winning the final One Day International by 13 runs. The standout performer of the match was Kranti Goud, whose exceptional bowling proved decisive.

The deciding game, played at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, saw England attempting to chase down India’s total of 318. However, Goud’s remarkable spell of bowling disrupted England’s batting lineup, as she claimed six wickets, leading to England being all out for 305.

Goud’s figures of 6/52 from 9.5 overs were not only her career-best but also came in just her fourth ODI appearance, marking an impressive start to her international career. Her performance was pivotal in India’s victory.

At 21 years and 346 days old, Goud now holds the record for the youngest Indian fast bowler to achieve a five-wicket haul in an ODI match. She surpassed the previous record held by Jhulan Goswami, who accomplished the same feat at 23 years and 12 days against guess who—England, back in December 2005.

Overall, Goud is the second youngest Indian woman to take five or more wickets in an ODI, just behind Deepti Sharma, who achieved it at 18 years and 179 days. This places Goud among the elite young talents in Indian women’s cricket.

Goud’s six-wicket haul also puts her in a special group of Indian women cricketers. She is now the fourth Indian woman, joining Mamatha Maben, Deepti Sharma, and Jhulan Goswami, to take six or more wickets in an ODI. This achievement underlines her potential and adds her name to the record books.
