Uttrakhand news: Helly ambulance in AIIMS Rishikesh has been kept in 24 -hour alert mode in AIIMS Rishikesh to provide immediate assistance to the common man in a hilly state like Uttarakhand. So far, more than 60 victims have been airlifted through this service.
Life saving helicopter service
India’s first free Heli Ambulance (Sanjeevani Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) has been launched from 29 October 2024 through AIIMS Rishikesh. In a hill state like Uttarakhand, this service is working as a life saving. Especially in conditions like road accidents, medical emergency, landslides, floods, this service has proved to be very effective. Many times pregnant women have also been airlifted for safe delivery in serious conditions. According to statistics, Haley ambulance total 74 hours Through a 12 -minute flight, airlifted more than 60 victims in different times and has provided life. This includes *23 ″ of *road accident, 18 of pregnancy emergency and 19 patients of other types of medical emergency. The Haley Ambulance played an important role in airlifting the affected people of the Almora bus accident on November 5 and the Joshimath avalanche on March 1, 2025.
Efforts were also made for Munsiyari
On 11 July 2025, a serious medical emergency was reported from Dhapa village in Munsiyari area of Pithoragarh district, where a woman and her granddaughter had consumed wild mushrooms. After first aid at the local health center, the doctors decided to immediately refer him to Haldwani’s High Medical Institute. In view of the seriousness of the situation, District Magistrate Pithoragarh sent a demand from Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) to provide immediate helicopter service. In response, the authority approved the helicopter flight without losing time. But unfortunately, due to excessive bad weather in the area that day, the flight was not possible due to DGCA standards. In such cases, it has been clarified by the government that in any emergency, the helicopter service will be made available on the demand sent by the District Magistrate. But the final permission of the flight is found according to the safety standards set by the DGCA, in which weather compatibility is an essential condition.
In view of the odd circumstances of Uttarakhand, a helicopter ambulance service has been started in collaboration with AIIMS Rishikesh. Uttarakhand, which serves such a service, is one of the leading states of the country. The helicopter ambulance is working as Sanjeevani. Many times the flight is not possible due to weather obstacles, in such a situation, the administration has been instructed to provide relief from people from alternative arrangements.
