MP Weather Update: Heavy rain in MP since morning, flood situation in Ashoknagar, alert for heavy rain for four days

MP Weather update: Monsoon is active in Madhya Pradesh. Heavy rains occurred in many districts since Thursday morning. The situation worsened due to 4 hours of heavy rain in Mungaoli area of Ashoknagar district. Three feet of water filled the houses, due to which flood-like conditions have arisen. Flood-like conditions have arisen due to the rising water level of rivers and drains.

Series of heavy rains in the state

In Bhopal, after light rain in the morning, heavy rain started in the afternoon. The weather also changed in Indore and Raisen and rivers and drains overflowed due to heavy rain. Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in 20 districts in the next 24 hours, which include Vidisha, Sehore, Sagar, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Panna, Katni, Jabalpur, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, and Umaria.

Waterlogging in many areas due to heavy rain

In the last 24 hours, Pachmarhi received 3.4 inches of rain, Chhindwara 2.6 inches, Guna 2.3 inches, Balaghat’s Malajkhand 2.1 inches and Narmadapuram 1.8 inches. Other districts like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Umaria, Seoni, Khajuraho, Jabalpur, Naugaon, Sagar, Betul, Sidhi, Raisen, Damoh, and Shivpuri also received rain.

Madikheda and Barna dam gates opened

Due to this change in weather, two gates of Madikheda of Atal Sagar Dam located in Shivpuri have been opened. 346 cumec water is being released from this. Apart from this, four gates of Barna Dam in Raisen district have also been opened and about ten thousand cusecs of water has been released. Due to this water, the water level of rivers and streams has increased rapidly, due to which flood like conditions have arisen in the surrounding areas.

There is a possibility of rain for the next four days

According to senior meteorologist Dr. Divya E. Surendran, the monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation system are active, and for the next four days, there may be very heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of the state. During this period, there is a possibility of heavy waterlogging and floods.
