Latest weather forecast :
The mood of the weather is different in different parts of the country. Somewhere it is raining heavily, while somewhere the humid heat is bothering. Due to the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in the coastal areas. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released the latest weather forecast for Delhi-NCR and other areas.
Weekend weather in Delhi-NCR :
The rain in Delhi and surrounding areas in the past few days brought some relief from the humid heat, but waterlogging in many places also caused problems. According to the IMD, there is little chance of rain in Delhi-NCR till Saturday. However, the weather may change around July 27, and light to moderate rain with heavy showers may occur at some places. Currently, hot and dry winds are blowing, increasing the day temperature. Due to humidity, there is discomfort during the day and humidity at night. Meteorologists say that the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal will gradually move north, due to which the monsoon trough may shift south. This may cause light to moderate rain in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
Uneven distribution of monsoon :
Rainfall distribution over northwest India has been uneven this monsoon season. West Rajasthan recorded 114% excess rainfall, while Haryana received 21% and Chandigarh only 2% surplus. Delhi received 18% less rainfall, leading to moisture deficiency. Dry weather is expected over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and west Rajasthan for the next 48 hours as the western end of the monsoon trough remains stationary near the foothills of the Himalayas.
Heavy rain alert in Mumbai and Odisha :
Monsoon is in full swing in Mumbai. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Mumbai and surrounding districts, warning of heavy to very heavy rains. Mumbai has recorded more than 100 mm of rain in the last two days, and about 300 mm of rain from Monday to Wednesday. The Andheri subway had to be closed, and waterlogging in areas like Dadar, Kurla, Sion caused problems. Daily life may be affected due to moderate to heavy rains continuing for the next few days and high waves in the sea. A red alert of very heavy rain has been issued in Odisha due to a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. Good rains are also expected in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.
Suggestions :
- To avoid humidity in Delhi-NCR, wear light clothes and drink enough water.
- Check local authorities’ advisories and road closures before travelling in Mumbai.
- Be cautious of floods and waterlogging in Odisha and coastal areas.
