New Delhi: The second day of the fourth Test match between India and England saw another dramatic turn when Ravindra Jadeja was given out on a controversial catch taken by Harry Brook. Jadeja was looking in good rhythm at that time and had scored 20 runs off 40 balls. In the 85th over he was caught at second slip on an outswinger from Jofra Archer.
Umpires decision on the catch and fans reaction
Brook took the catch by bending down to his right which was a crucial moment in Indias innings. However the on-field umpires declared Jadeja out without any hesitation and the decision was not sent to the third umpire. After this many viewers shared screenshots of the replay on social media in which the ball was seen touching the ground.
The absence of TV replay became a matter of debate
Due to the decision not being confirmed by the third umpire the debate about umpiring has once again started on the internet. Many fans questioned why the decision was not investigated in such a crucial situation.

Pants injury and weakness of the middle order
Before this controversy India had suffered a major setback on the first day itself when Rishabh Pant had to retire hurt due to an elbow injury. Pant was batting well but due to pain he did not return to bat again. With Jadeja getting out early Indias middle order now looks weak and the teams position is in danger.
The imperative of victory and historical statistics
India is trailing 2-1 in this five-match series and it is important for them to win in Manchester so that the series can be leveled. But historical statistics are not in Indias favor - they have not won a single Test in 9 attempts at Old Trafford so far.
Englands strategy and Indias challenge
England captain Ben Stokes won the toss for the fourth consecutive time and decided to bowl first. After not getting any wickets in the first session England made a comeback in the match by dismissing KL Rahul Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in the second session. Now that Pant is injured and Jadeja is also out Indias lower order has come under pressure.
BCCIs update on Pant
BCCI has given information about Pants injury and said that he can come out to bat as per the teams need. However it is still uncertain whether he will return to the field again or not.
