Alan Musk’s satellite -based internet service Starlink faced a major technical disruption on 25 July, affecting millions of users from more than 140 countries. Known for high quality and reliable connectivity, the network of this service suddenly came to a standstill. This had an impact on the routers who were associated with the Starlink Network, which completely stopped the Internet in many areas.
According to the report, the crisis occurred due to an internal software failure, which affected the company’s main services. This problem was so widespread that in many countries, connectivity was interrupted simultaneously. However, services like Starlinks usually do not face such a serious outage, which made this situation even more unusual.
The company confirmed this outage by posting on its X (East Twitter) account and told that it is working on finding a solution. Starlink wrote in its statement that we are currently in network outage and are actively implemented solutions.
In SpaceX, Michael Nichols, Vice President of Starlink Engineering, informed about 2.5 hours later that the network was almost completely cured. He said that this disruption was caused by the failure of the main internal services handling the core network of Starlink.
Nichols also assured that the company will not find such a situation in the future by finding out the root cause of this disturbance. The outage was noted at 1:35 pm and services started to be restored at around 3:53 pm.
