For those reluctant to fork out extra cash for "extra legroom" options, you might wonder what comes with a standard fare.
But there's no need to worry, as consumer champions Which? released their 2023 survey, comparing legroom and seat width across 12 major short-haul airlines operating from the UK.
This research focuses on "seat pitch" – the distance from your seat to the one in front – as a measure ofleg space, reports the Express.
Aer Lingus, Lufthansa, and KLM lead the pack with a roomy seat pitch offering of 31 to 32 inches, 29 to 33 inches, and 30 to 32 inches, respectively.
Conversely, Wizz Air and TUI are at the bottom of the list, both squeezing passengers into a tight 28-inch seat pitch.
Regarding seat width – the space between armrests – most carriers hover around the 17-inch mark.
However, easyJet, TAP Portugal, and Lufthansa edge ahead with a slightly more spacious 18 inches.
Aer Lingus - 31-32 inches
British Airways - 29-31 inches
EasyJet - 29 inches
