The highly anticipated epic film ‘Ramayana’, helmed by Nitesh Tiwari and starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, continues to unveil its stellar cast. While Ranbir has wrapped up shooting for Part 1 of the grand Diwali 2026 release, and Ravi Dubey steps in as Lakshman, the spotlight now turns to Lakshman’s wife — Urmila. The role will reportedly be played by Assamese actress Surabhi Das, known for her striking screen presence and glamorous real-life persona.

Surabhi, who gained popularity through her television debut in Nima Denzongpa, is all set to make her big-screen debut with this mythological spectacle. At just 27 years old, she brings both freshness and charm to the role of Urmila — Sita’s sister and Lakshman’s devoted wife. While she has not officially confirmed her character in public, she did share her excitement on Instagram, writing, “It feels good to be a part of this story. Welcome to the world of Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana.”

Apart from her television success, Surabhi has also worked in the 2022 Bengali film Dada Tumi Dusto Bor. Her acting chops and natural screen charm have now earned her a place in one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema history.

In a recent interview with Tellychakkar, Surabhi revealed that she spent more time filming with Sai Pallavi — who is reportedly playing Sita — than with Ranbir Kapoor. She praised both actors, particularly highlighting Ranbir’s professionalism. Fans also loved a behind-the-scenes photo she shared with Ranbir and Sai, where she expressed her joy with a flurry of emojis.

Off-screen, Surabhi enjoys a massive following on social media, nearing the 1-million mark on Instagram. Known for her bold and glamorous style, she often stuns fans with her fashion sense and brand collaborations, which also contribute significantly to her earnings.

As ‘Ramayana’ shapes up to be a cinematic marvel, Surabhi Das’s casting adds a fresh and glamorous touch to the mythological narrative. With a powerful role in a ₹4000-crore magnum opus, this debut could catapult her into the league of Bollywood’s rising stars.
