In yet another shocking incident highlighting the poor human resource system in neighboring country Pakistan TikTok content creator Sumeera Rajput was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her home in the Bago Wah area of Sindhs Ghotki district. The news was reported by Pakistani media outlet Geo News. With the news surfacing online it created widespread public outrage in Pakistan. People have raised concerns about the growing violence against women especially those active on digital platforms. Who was Sumeera Rajput? A famous social media influencer Sumeera Rajput had 58000 followers and over one million likes on TikTok. As per media reports she was allegedly poisoned by individuals who had long been pressuring her into a forced marriage Geo News reported. Why Was Sumeera Rajput Murdered ? According to Geo News citing Ghotki District Police Officer Anwar Shaikh Rajput’s 15-year-old daughter alleged that her mother was poisoned over a forced marriage. She claimed the suspects gave her mother poisonous tablets ultimately causing Rajput’s death. No FIR Against Sumeera Rajput’s Murderers The report further stated that no First Information Report (FIR) has been filed. Although two people including Babu Rajput and Muhammad Imran have been booked and taken into custody police are yet to confirm the motive behind the murder. Ghotki Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Anwar Khetran in a statement said “A post-mortem of Sumeera Rajput has been conducted which has revealed that she died because of poisoning.” This is yet another incident which has taken place in Pakistan. Last month a 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf was shot dead inside her home in Islamabad. A 22-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly killing Sana. Though he has been sent behind the bars the motive behind the crime still remains unclear.
