Mumbai: As per the Hindu calendar, the festival of Nag Panchami is observed every year on the fifth day (Panchami Tithi) of the Shukla Paksha during the holy month of Sawan. This auspicious occasion holds immense religious significance, especially for devotees of Lord Shiva and the serpent deities (Nag Devta). It is believed that worshipping Nag Devta on this day brings the blessings of Lord Shiva and protection from serpentine afflictions such as Kaal Sarp Dosh.
Nag Panchami is also associated with prosperity and spiritual healing. By offering specific items to the Shivlinga, devotees seek divine grace for financial growth, peace of mind, and release from debts and disease. This year, Nag Panchami will be observed on 29 July 2025, as the Panchami Tithi begins on 28 July at 11:24 PM and ends on 30 July at 12:46 AM.
1. Curd (Dahi)
Offering curd on the Shivlinga during Nag Panchami is said to invoke abundance and divine blessings. It is considered extremely auspicious and believed to remove financial obstacles through the grace of Lord Shiva.
2. Honey (Shahad)
Lord Shiva is fond of honey, and pouring honey over the Shivlinga on this day is said to improve financial stability. Devotees also believe it helps relieve debt- burdens.
3. Ganga Water (Gangajal)
According to Hindu scriptures, performing abhishek (ritual bathing) of the Shivlinga with sacred Ganga water bestows mental peace and fulfils heartfelt desires. It is a powerful spiritual cleanser and enhancer of positivity.
4. Black Sesame Seeds (Kale Til)
Black sesame seeds hold a sacred place in Shiva worship. Offering them on Nag Panchami is believed to attract financial growth and remove obstacles from one’s path.
5. Cow Ghee
Cow’s ghee is especially dear to Lord Shiva. Offering it on the Shivlinga is said to bring healing from physical ailments and open the doors to prosperity and freedom from loans or financial setbacks.
6. SUGARCANE JUICE (GANNE KA RAS)
Pouring sugarcane juice on the Shivlinga on Nag Panchami is considered highly beneficial. It is said to bring wealth and improve one’s financial condition, as per religious beliefs.
