Sarvan Vivek M, head of the team investigating the case, said that in the initial investigation, widow Jena and retired revenue officer Sahu were in relationship for the last five years. On Thursday morning, when Sahu was sleeping in his room, Jena came to her room and put kerosene and set it on fire. Harihar Sahu, who was badly burnt, was taken to a hospital in Barahampur, from where the doctors referred him to Cuttack, but Sahu could not be saved.

The police officer said that the woman not only murdered her landlord in a planned manner, but also tried to erase the evidence. He threw the victim's phone into the courtyard of the house and threw the bottle with which the kerosene was put on him in the same fire.

Not only this, after setting fire, he also started shouting while trying to save Sahu to prove himself innocent, which also brought the neighbors to the hospital, who later took the injured Sahu to the hospital.

The police officer said that the accused woman gave information about the deceased's daughter. After this, his daughter reached Cuttack Hospital. The case of murder allegedly came to light when Sahu told his daughter, someone had set her on fire by spraying kerosene on her.

On this basis, the deceased's daughter Madhusmita lodged a report at Baidyanathpur police station. He accused the woman of attacking her father to grab property. Based on Madhusmita's report, the police arrested the woman.
