Hyderabad: Team India allrounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who played the second and third Test matches of the ongoing series in England, has been ruled of the remainder of the tour with a knee injury.

Adding to insult to injury, the India and Sunrisers Hyderabad cricketer has landed in legal trouble with his former agent filing a petition against him, seeking over Rs 5 crore in unpaid dues.

Sources familiar with the matter confirmed to India Today that the relationship between Reddy and his former player agency Square The One broke down during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Reddy then signed with the manager of another Team India cricketer, who was also part of that tour of Australia.

Square The One Private Limited has filed a petition, under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, alleging a breach of the agreement with the cricketer and non-payment of dues.

The case will come up for hearing in Delhi High Court on July 28.

The petition seeks appointment of an independent arbitrator to adjudicate claims to the alleged unlawful breach of contract and non-payment of contractual dues by Reddy.

According to India Today, Square The One represented Reddy since 2021, and brought in several brand endorsements and commercial partnerships for the cricketer during their over three years’ association.

“Ninety per cent of such disputes do not reach court and are resolved privately. But in this case, Reddy refused to pay any money and claimed he had secured the deals himself,” said a source.

Reddy made a brilliant Test debut in Australia, impressing with the bat and even scoring his maiden international century. However, his form dipped towards the end of that series and then he had a poor IPL 2025 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, who failed to qualify for the playoffs.

In the two Tests against England, Reddy scored 45 runs in 4 innings and took 3 wickets before suffering a serious knee injury.
