Controversy continues around the last will and legal heir of deceased billionaire and ex-husband of actress Karisma Kapoor Sunjay Kapur with his mother Rani Kapur recently claiming that she was sole heir to the Sona Comstar because she is the majority shareholder in the Sona Group the parent company of the auto parts manufacturer. Whos named in Sunjay Kapurs will? There is clear mention of any legal heir in Sunjay Kapurs will even though Rani Kapur has cited the last will of her husband and Sona Comstar founder Surinder Kapur to lay her claim to the company. According to legal experts in the absence of a will Sunjays assets and property will be equally divided between his mother Rani Kapur wife Priya Sachdeva and their children. The Kapurs hold a controlling stake in Sona Comstar. The promoter group holds a 53% stake in the firm however there is no information about the shares held by individuals. What does Rani Kapur claim? In a letter to Sona Comstar Board of Directors Rani Kapur claimed that after her sons demise she was now the sole heir of her husband and Sona Comstar founder Surinder Kapur and the majority shareholder in the Sona Group the parent company of the auto parts manufacturer adding that she has not allowed anyone to represent her in the company on her behalf. If the board and shareholders ignore this letter which I am writing not only as a grieving mother but also as the head of the Kapur family and the largest shareholder of the company it will be a clear example of mismanagement and betrayal by the company she stated. Will Karisma Kapoor get a share? Another query which is trending in the media is whether actress Karisma Kapoor the ex-wife of Sunjay Kapur will receive a share in her late ex-husbands property. The simple answer is a no because at the time of their divorce Karisma Kapoor received Rs 70 crore in alimony. Besides Sunjay Kapur also left a handsome inheritance for their two sons-- Samaira and Kian which includes a Rs 14 crore bond he purchased for them after divorcing Karisma Kapoor in 2016. The bond generates a monthly interest of Rs 10 lakh which is meant to cover the daily expenses of his two kids with Karisma. Additionally his house in Khar is also registered in their names. Priya Sachdev appointed non-executive director at Soma Comstar Meanwhile despite Rani Kapurs disapproval Priya Sachdev the third wife of Sunjay Kapur was appointed as the non-executive director of Soma Comstar at the companys Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on July 25. The auto parts maker has informed the BSE about the decision. Notably Rani Kapur had written to SEBI seeking postponement of the AGM citing the sudden and suspicious death of her son Sunjay Kapur. Some people trying to take control of Kapur family legacy In her letter Rani claimed that her son died under suspicious circumstances and regretted that the company was planning to hold the meeting while the family was still in deep mourning. She also claimed that she was forced to sign several unknown documents in her state of grief and the details of those have not been shared with her yet. I was completely helpless mentally and emotionally after the death of my son but I was forced to sign documents behind closed doors. I repeatedly asked for copies of those documents but till date I have not been given anything. She further alleged that she has been denied access to her bank accounts and forced to depend on a select few people for my livelihood. The grieving mother also claimed that following Sunjay Kapurs death some people were attempting to wrest control of the Kapur familys legacy in their hour of mourning She revealed that several proposals are being voted on in the AGM including the proposal to appoint a representative of the Kapur family but she has not been informed about these proposals. Sunjay Kapur death Sunjay Kapur the ex-husband of famous Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor died of a heart attack while playing a polo match in the United Kingdom on June 12.  At first it was believed that the 53-year-old had died due to a sudden heart attack but later reports emerged that he had reportedly swallowed a bee by accident and its sting caused an allergic reaction triggering a cardiac arrest that led to his demise.
