Washington. The US Space Agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will get 3,870 employees. These employees are going to resign under the voluntary resignation program. The administration of US President Donald Trump has run a program to reduce the number of employees to cut the budget. Under this, NASA has been asked to resign himself instead of evacuating employees. In order to follow the target of reducing the federal task force of the Trump administration, the officials of Space Agency NASA are adopting the path to resign to avoid retrenchment.
The resignation of 3,870 employees from NASA is currently revealed. However, NASA said in its statement on Friday that this number may change after review of applications. NASA has given employees two different opportunities to quit jobs in 2025. About 14,000 employees will remain in NASA after both resignation programs and about 500 people quit their jobs in general.
Second round of resignations
The first round of resignations in NASA came in the early stages of Trump Administration. The effort was operated by the Department of Government Efficiency led by Elon Musk. NASA began its second round of resignation in early June, giving the opportunity to join it by 25 July. The agency reported that 3,000 employees accepted it, which is 16.4 percent of the total workforce.
NASA has said in its statement that security is our top priority. Along with becoming a more skilled organization, we are also ensuring that our abilities for missions like Moon and Mars remain completely. However, the expert believes that such a huge decrease in the number of employees may damage its future mission and technical expertise for NASA.
